There's an Ultra-Rare Lotus 340R in Florida and Someone Needs to Buy It
Based on a Lotus Elise, and weighing less than 1,500 lbs, this could be your ultimate track day toy.
Based on the Lotus Elise, the 340R gets its name from the limited run of 340 examples Lotus produced. It didn't get more power than the Elise, but fanatical devotion to lightness got the weight down to a little under 1,500 pounds. That made it light, fast, and perfect for the track.
Despite not originally being sold in the United States, this one is up for sale on Ebay right now in Florida. The asking price is a stiff $75,000, but the owner is accepting offers. Yes, it's right hand drive, and no, we don't think there's a reliable way to register it in the U.S. But if you're in the market for a dedicated track day car, we're sure you can get used to shifting with your other hand.

That's some high praise for a car with only 177 horsepower. But when you consider that it had a power-to-weight ratio close to that of a Ferrari 360 Modena, it starts to make more sense.
